Community Guidelines

Elko Local is for neighbors in Elko County. These rules apply to everything posted on elkolocal.com and in the Elko Local app, including ads, garage sales, jobs, resumes, events, directory listings, reviews, and photos.

Not allowed

• Harassment, threats, bullying, or hate based on race, ethnicity, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, age, or national origin.
• Sexually explicit content or nudity, and anything that sexualizes minors.
• Violent or graphic content.
• Illegal items or services, including drugs, stolen goods, and anything that breaks federal or Nevada law. Firearms must follow all applicable laws.
• Scams, fraud, fake job offers, pyramid schemes, and requests for upfront payment by gift card or wire.
• Spam, duplicate posts, and misleading listings.
• Posting someone else's private information (an address, phone number, or photo) without their permission.
• Impersonating a person or business.
• Discriminatory job or housing ads.
• Content that infringes copyright or trademarks.

How to report content

• Use the "Report" link on the post, if shown, or
• Fill out the report form below, or
• Email admin@elkolocal.com with the link to the content and what is wrong.

What happens next

We review reports within 24 hours. If content breaks these guidelines, we remove it, and we may suspend or permanently ban the user who posted it. In an emergency, call 911. We do not monitor reports around the clock, so please contact local authorities for anything urgent.

Blocking and abusive users

If someone is harassing you, report them using the form or email above. We can block that user's account so they can no longer post or contact people through the Service, and we remove the abusive content. Repeat or serious offenders are banned.

We may update these guidelines. Using the Service means you agree to follow the current version.
