Terms of Use
The rules for using elkolocal.com and the Elko Local app.
Last updated Oct 16, 2026
Effective date: October 16, 2026
These Terms of Use apply to elkolocal.com and the Elko Local mobile app (the "Service"), operated by Elko Local, PO Box 8206, Spring Creek, NV 89815. By using the Service, you agree to these terms.
1. Eligibility and accounts
You must be at least 13 to use the Service, and 18 to post jobs, buy paid features, or sell items. Keep your password safe. You are responsible for activity on your account.
2. Your content
You keep ownership of what you post. You give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, display, and distribute it on the Service so it can work as intended. You confirm you have the right to post it, and that it follows our Community Guidelines at https://elkolocal.com/community-guidelines/. Resumes added to the talent pool may be viewed and downloaded by paying employers.
3. Rules
Follow our Community Guidelines. We may remove content or suspend accounts that break them, without notice. We have no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users.
4. Transactions between users
Classifieds, garage sales, jobs, and events are between users. We do not inspect items, check people, or guarantee any deal, job, or event. Meet in safe public places and use good judgment.
5. Paid features
Job posts, directory plans, and advertising may cost money. Prices are shown before you pay. Payments are processed by Stripe. Unless the law requires otherwise or we say so at purchase, fees are not refundable. No refunds are given once a post, listing, or ad goes live.
Recurring charges and auto-renewal
Some paid features can renew automatically: banner ads when you choose Auto-renew at checkout, website plans, and Business Directory plans. These terms apply to all of them.
- It’s optional. Auto-renew on banner ads is optional and off by default; you turn it on at checkout. Website and directory plans are subscriptions, and their billing period (for example monthly or yearly) is shown before you pay.
- When you’re charged. We charge your payment method at the start of each billing period (every 30 days for a banner ad on auto-renew) at the price shown at checkout.
- It continues until canceled. The plan keeps renewing until you cancel it, or until we end it as these terms allow.
- How to cancel. Banner ads: you can cancel auto-renew anytime. Sign in, open My account → My purchases, or go to the ad’s manage page (Advertise → Your campaigns) and choose “Cancel auto-renew.” Business Website plans: to cancel, contact us; the cancellation takes effect at the end of your current paid period. Business Directory plans: sign in, open your Business Dashboard, choose “Manage billing,” and cancel there. You can also contact us and we’ll cancel an ad or directory plan for you.
- What canceling does. Canceling stops future charges. Your ad, listing, or plan stays up until the end of the period you already paid for.
- Refunds. We don’t give refunds for partial periods unless the law requires it.
- Price changes. We’ll email you before any price change applies to a renewal, so you can cancel first if you wish.
- Failed payments. If a renewal payment fails, Stripe may try again. If it still can’t be collected, the plan may end and your ad or listing may stop showing.
- Reminders. For banner ads on auto-renew, we email a reminder a few days before each renewal.
6. Third-party content and links
The Service uses maps from OpenStreetMap and links to Google Maps and other sites. We are not responsible for third-party services. Weather, earthquake, news, and similar information is provided as-is and may be delayed or wrong; do not rely on it for safety decisions.
7. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, TO THE FULLEST EXTENT ALLOWED BY LAW.
8. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for anything arising from dealings between users. Our total liability will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the last 12 months or $50.
9. Ending use
You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time (https://elkolocal.com/delete-account/). We may suspend or end access for violations of these terms.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Nevada. Disputes will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Nevada, in Elko County where allowed.
11. App stores
If you downloaded the app from Apple's App Store or Google Play, those companies are not responsible for the Service or its support, and are not parties to these terms. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
12. Changes
We may update these terms and will post the new version here with a new effective date.
